Eligibility
- Persons of Guyanese citizenship (whether by birth, descent, registration, or naturalization) are eligible for a Guyana passport
- Persons who are in possession of expired passports or whose passports have less than six (6) months validity for international travel are required to apply for a new passport
- Persons whose passports are lost, stolen or damaged
- Applications for new passports can be sent to the High Commission via post or by booking an in person appointment
Requirements Checklist
Applicants with Machine-Readable Passports (Dark Blue cover passport)
- Completed Application form (see form below)
- 1 copy of completed form
- Original Guyana passport
- 2 legible colour photocopies of the bio-data page of your passport
- Three (3) identical coloured photographs taken within the last 3 months.
- £75 for new passport
- Postage paid return self-addressed envelope or payment of £15 for
returns within the United Kingdom. Persons outside of the United
Kingdom are advised to arrange a Courier for the return of their
documents.
Applicants with Non-Machine-Readable Passports (Green or Black Passport) are required to submit all the documents above along with the following:
- Original Guyana Birth Certificate/registration certificate
- Copy of Overseas ID (Passport, Driver’s license, Residence Permit)
If unable to produce another form of ID, a Statutory Declaration from a sibling, parent, or spouse confirming the applicant’s identity along with a copy of the bio page of the declarant passport
Note : Persons with the Non-Machinable passports are required to complete the recommender section (page 3) of the application form
Lost/Stolen/Damaged Passports
In addition to the requirements mentioned above, applicants who have lost/stolen or damaged passports are required to submit:
- £100 fee instead of £75
- Original Birth Certificate / Registration Certificate
- Copy of Overseas ID (Passport, Driver’s license, Residence Permit)
- Police Report or Original notarised Affidavit stating the circumstances under which the passport was lost. Affidavits for lost passports can be done at the High Commission for an additional fee of £25 (see form below)
Change of Name
Applicants who wish to change their names in their new passport, must provide the additional documents below:
- Original Marriage Certificate and/or Divorce Decree, Birth Certificate of spouse (for married women including widows and women whose marriages have been terminated).
- Original Registered Deed Poll/Legal Name Change document. If the applicant does not have a Guyana registered Deed Poll, it is acceptable to submit a Deed Poll that has been enrolled or registered with the competent state authority in the country of residence. For example, persons residing in England and Wales should enrol their Deed Poll with the Royal Courts of Justice.
- Applications forms must be filled out in the new name of the applicant
- Copy of another form of valid photo ID that has the new name
Underage Applicants
- Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by one or both parents, if making application at the High Commission
- In cases where either parent is unavailable, an Affidavit from a Notary Public is required. The Affidavit must indicate that the child/children is/are in the custody of either parent making the representation, to apply and uplift the passport for the child/children, or that the applicant is the guardian of the child.
- Children over ten (10) years old must sign on their application form. (Signature Box, Page 2)
Photographs
- Photo size: (minimum 32x26mm, maximum 45x35mm)
- Background must be plain white (no shadows).
- No head piece or hair covering (with the exception of those worn for religious purposes and only if the full facial features are clearly visible).
- No sunglasses.
- Studs/Earring/s not accepted on male applicants’ pictures.
Payment Methods
- Card Payments done at the High Commission in person
- British Postal Order made payable to the “Guyana High Commission”.
- Bank Transfer made payable to the “Guyana High Commission”
Processing Time
Completed applications are sent to Guyana for processing which can take approximately twelve (12) weeks. Replacing lost and damaged passports can take up to 3 months.
Important: Kindly ensure you affix your signature on page 2 (box provided for applicants signature) as well as the declaration on page 3.
