Birth /Death /Marriage Certificates

Guyanese residing overseas who are desirous of applying for Birth, Death or Marriage Certificates can submit an application to be processed through the Guyana High Commission in London. 

Applications can be sent to the High Commission via post or by email to consularghcuk@mission.gov.gy 

Completed applications are then forwarded to the General Register Office in Guyana for processing which can take approximately two (2) to three (3) months. 

REQUIREMENTS CHECKLIST 

  • Letter addressed to the High Commission requesting an application for the required certificate. The letter must state clearly; the name, contact details, and postal address to whom the certificate should be mailed 
  • Completed application form. (see forms below) Complete the form ensuring that you enter accurate information (for example, the exact place of birth in Guyana, that is, street, hospital or village) 
  • Copy of the old Birth, Death, Marriage Certificate (if available) 
  • Copy of the applicant's valid passport or Driving Licence 
  • Application Fees in the amount of twenty pounds (£20) can be paid via Bank Transfer, mail in the post or in person at the Guyana High Commission  
  • Postage Fee in the amount of fifteen pounds (£15) for applicants residing in the United Kingdom or a Return Self-addressed Envelope. 
  • Applicants living outside of the United Kingdom must arrange a Courier Service (FedEx or DHL) for the collection of the new certificate.  
  • Applications can be submitted via post or by email or by an in person appointment at the High Commission  

NOTE 

  1. Applications will be subject to delays if the information inserted on the form is not accurate 
  2. Payment details for Bank Transfers will be shared after the application is received by the High Commission  
  3. Applicants seeking to submit an application for minor clerical corrections or amendments to a birth registration are encouraged to visit Minor Corrections - Guyana General Register Office (moha.gov.gy) for further information and submission of these applications.
  4. Persons interested in legally adopting a child or submitting a request for an adoption certificate, must visit Adoption - Guyana General Register Office (moha.gov.gy)
